FAQS
-
Q1: Any installation precautions for SolarX 4K? Can I do it myself?
A:
Wear insulated gloves for safety. You can install it yourself if you have basic electrical knowledge. If you're unsure, it's best to let a professional handle the installation.
-
Q2: Is grounding required?
A:
Yes, grounding is required for safe operation.
The SolarX 4K has three grounding terminals (left, middle, and right):
- ● Right terminal Mandatory grounding. Connect this to earth (usually to the ground bar of the home's electrical panel).
- ● Middle terminal: For input-side grounding. Use this if your solar panels require grounding.
- ● Left terminal:For battery charging. Connect to this if the battery has grounding requirements.
-
Q3: What's the terminal on the right side of the solar input used for?
A:
It's for the ACFI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) connection, designed to protect the system from arc faults by automatically disconnecting when a fault occurs.
-
Q4: Can glass solar panels connect to SolarX 4K?
A:
Yes, provided the voltage and current are within SolarX 4K's limits.
-
Q5: Can different types of solar panels be mixed with SolarX 4K?
A:
No. The SolarX 4K has only one MPPT input.
-
Q6: What kind of PV disconnect switch is needed?
A:
Use a DC switch (PV isolator) rated for at least 600 V and 20 A. Make sure to use 2 positive and 2 negative wires (12–10 AWG, around 4–5 mm²) with MC4 connectors to match your solar panels.
-
Q7: Is there a minimum or start‑up PV voltage for SolarX 4K?
A:
Yes, the starting voltage is 150V. Below that, the charging won't begin.
-
Q8: What BLUETTI models work with SolarX 4K?
A:
The SolarX 4K works with these models:
- ● Power stations: Apex 300, AC300/AC500 (with expansion battery).
- ● Battery packs: B300K, B300, B300S, B4810, B1210, B1232.
- IMPORTANT: Ensure you use the correct connection cable for each unit. The AC300 requires an ARM version in the 4032 series, while the AC500 requires the 4044 series. For update details, please contact us at sale-eu@bluettipower.com with your product model, SN, and current ARM version.
-
Q9: Can SolarX 4K charge multiple Apex 300 units in parallel?
A:
Yes. Use the XT60 DC output cable (sold separately).
-
Q10: What if there are two SolarX 4K units for two Apex 300 power stations in parallel?
A:
The setup is nearly the same. Install each SolarX 4K normally and then connect them.
-
Q11: How to update the ARM for AC300/AC500 to work with SolarX 4K?
A:
Please check your current ARM version first. The AC300 requires an ARM version in the 4032 series, while the AC500 requires the 4044 series. For update details, please contact us at sale-eu@bluettipower.com with your product model, SN, and current ARM version.
-
Q12: Are other brands or lead-acid batteries supported?
A:
No.
-
Q13: Why are there CA90 short cables and P090D/A long cables for connecting SolarX 4K?
A:
- Both connect the same way, but they support different power levels:
- ● CA90 short cable: Up to 4,000 W.
- ● P090D/A long cable: Up to 3,000 W-3,500 W.
The difference is due to cable length—shorter cables have less power loss, so they deliver more power efficiently.
-
Q14: How much input power is available with Apex 300 + B300K?
A:
Up to 4,000 W with the CA90 short cable, or 3,500 W with the long cable. Extra solar panels can be added directly to the Apex 300's DC input, achieving up to 6,400 W combined (4,000 W + 2,400 W).
-
Q15: Since SolarX 4K is designed for off-grid systems without grid connection, how does it handle excess power if the storage (like Apex 300) is fully charged?
A:
When the Apex 300 is fully charged, it will send a request for 0 A current, preventing SolarX 4K from charging the unit further.
-
Q16: Can solar panels be connected if the total voltage exceeds 500 V?
A:
No, the total voltage from the solar panels must not exceed 500V, as this can damage the unit. However, the current can exceed the 13A limit. For example, a 350 W solar panel with an open-circuit voltage of 43.8 V should be limited to a maximum of 12 panels in series.
-
Q17: When should I consider SolarX 4K?
A:
Consider SolarX 4K if:
- ● You experience frequent outages without home battery system.
- ● You rely heavily on solar power.
- ● You need fast charging for off-grid cabins or RVs..
SolarX 4K handles high-voltage solar input (150V–500V) and safely steps it down to a range (35V–58V) for efficient, high-power charging.
-
Q18: Can I connect other devices to the remaining XT60 ports on SolarX 4K if I use one or two Apex 300 units?
A:
No.
-
Q19: Can SolarX 4K charge a system with mixed battery packs?
A:
Yes, supported combinations include:
- ● Apex 300 with mixed battery packs (Apex 300 + B300/B300K/B300S)
- ● Battery pack mixes (B300 + B300K + B300S)
- ● AC300/AC500 with mixed battery packs (AC300 + B300/B300K, AC500 + B300/B300K)
Note: Mixing different battery packs may result in uneven charge/discharge SOC (State of Charge).
